Importing country requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.

An import permit is required.

Contact the High Commission for Pakistan, Canberra​ for information about the process required to import animals into Pakistan from Australia.

Refer to this and the Department’s websites for current information about exporting animals (including any suspensions).

Note
Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.

Health requirements

Health certificate

  1. 1) The day-old chickens or hatching eggs originate from breeding establishments and hatcheries that are audited and approved for export by the Australian Department of Agriculture

    Documentation confirming successful audit of approval of breeding establishment and hatchery by Department of Agriculture within 12 months prior to export.

  2. 2) The Australian State or Territory from which the day-old chickens or hatching eggs for export to Pakistan are derived is free from highly pathogenic avian influenza.

    Documentation from the State or Territory Veterinary authority identifying that the state or territory is free from HPAI.

  3. 3) The farm of origin of the day-old chickens or hatching eggs is not under any official quarantine restrictions.

    Documentation from the State or Territory Veterinary Authority of no official quarantine restrictions on the farm of origin.

  4. 4) The day-old chickens to be exported to Pakistan have been inspected by a registered veterinarian within 48 hours before export and are free from evidence of disease (delete for hatching eggs).

    Declaration from a registered veterinarian that inspected the day-old-chickens.

  5. 5) The day-old chickens showed no clinical signs of avian influenza within the 48 hours before export.

  6. 6) There have been no cases of Fowl cholera, avian encephalomyelitis, infectious laryngotracheitis, Newcastle disease, Marek’s disease, avian leucosis, infectious bronchitis, infectious bursal disease, Mycoplasma gallinarum, Mycoplasma synoviae, Salmonella pullorum, Salmonella gallinarum, Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhimurium in the breeding flocks from which the day-old chickens or hatching eggs originate in the six months prior to export.

    Documentation from the operator of the premises where the breeding flocks from which the day-old-chicks or hatching eggs were derived from of no evidence of the relevant non-notifiable diseases occurring on the premises for six months prior to export.

    Documentation from the State or Territory Veterinary Authority of no evidence of the relevant notifiable diseases occurring on the premises where the breeding flocks from which the day-old-chicks or hatching eggs were derived from for six months prior to export.

  7. 7) The donor flocks from which the day-old chickens or hatching eggs are produced have been tested for Salmonella pullorum and Salmonella gallinarum by serum agglutination tests at least twice in the 6 months prior to export, including once within 30 days of export. A number sufficient to detect 5% prevalence with 95% confidence was tested. No evidence of Salmonella pullorum or Salmonella gallinarum was detected.

    AND

    The housing of the donor flocks from which the day-old chickens or hatching eggs are produced has been microbiologically tested for Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella enteritidis. Five samples per house were tested at least twice in the 6 months prior to export, including once within 30 days of export. No evidence of Salmonella typhimurium or Salmonella enteritidis was detected.

    Records of blood sampling and laboratory test results within the appropriate time period and at the correct confidence levels.

    AND

    Records of sampling and laboratory test results within the appropriate time period and correct sampling regime.

  8. 8) The donor flocks from which the day-old chickens or hatching eggs are produced have been tested for Mycoplasma gallinarum and Mycoplasma synoviae by serum agglutination tests at least twice in the 6 months prior to export, including once within 30 days of export. A number sufficient to detect 5% prevalence with 95% confidence was tested. No evidence of Mycoplasma gallinarum or Mycoplasma synoviae was detected.

    Records of blood sampling and laboratory test results within the appropriate time period and at the correct confidence levels.

  9. 9) The day-old chickens have been hatched from eggs that had been fumigated and disinfected before setting (delete for hatching eggs).

    Declaration from the operator of the breeder flock establishment/hatchery that the day-old chickens have been hatched from eggs that had been fumigated and disinfected before setting.

  10. 10) The day-old chickens have been hatched from hatchers that were disinfected or fumigated before use (delete for hatching eggs).

    Declaration from the operator of the breeder flock establishment/hatchery that the day-old chickens have been hatched from hatchers that were disinfected or fumigated before use.

  11. 11) The hatching eggs for export have been disinfected or fumigated prior to packing (delete for day-old chickens).

    Declaration from the operator of the breeder flock establishment/hatchery that the hatching eggs have been disinfected or fumigated prior to packing.

  12. 12) The day-old chickens or hatching eggs were transported in new or appropriately sanitised containers​. The packaged day-old chickens or hatching eggs destined for export to Pakistan have not come into contact with other poultry, eggs or birds.

    Exporter declaration that the day-old chickens or hatching eggs were packed in new, clean packaging for export and have had no contact with other poultry, eggs or birds.

  13. 13) If vaccinations have been performed on the day-old chickens or hatching eggs, information on the nature and dates of those vaccinations is attached to this health certificate.

    Vaccination schedule from the operator of the breeder flock establishment/hatchery is submitted to the Department of Agriculture and attached to the health certificate.

  14. The consignment is scheduled to ​depart from the breeding establishment or hatchery referred to in clause 1) to Pakistan on (date).

    Export date listed on the Notice of Intention (NOI) submitted to the Department of Agriculture.
