It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements. ​Additional information to assist exporters with how to prepare reproductive material for export is available on the Department’s website.

An import permit and health certificate are required.

Information about the process required to import reproductive material into New Caledonia can be found on the New Caledonian Department of Veterinary, Food and Rural Affairs (DAVAR) website.

Health certification

There is a model health certificate intended for the movement of reproductive material from Australia to New Caledonia. It is the responsibility of the exporter to ensure that the certificate is current.

Australian Departmental officers will not endorse health certification for reproductive material destined to the New Caledonia if only presented in a language other than English.

         Unless otherwise specified “donor” or “donor animals” refers to both the female donor of the ova and the male donor of the semen in case of natural mating.

         The donor animals were born in and have always resided in Australia.
      
      
      3. 8.1.3 Les animaux donneurs ont été identifiés individuellement par boucle auriculaire, tatouage ou puce électronique avant leur entrée sur le lieu de collecte. L’identification doit être contrôlée à chaque étape nécessitant une certification.
         
         Prior to entry into the place of collection, each donor was individually identified by an eartag, tattoo or microchip. The donors must be identified at each process which requires certification.
      
      
      4. 8.1.4 En cas d’accouplement naturel, le statut sanitaire des mâles donneurs est équivalent à celui des femelles donneuses ou la semence utilisée pour fertiliser les embryons répond aux conditions du code de l’OIE (chapitre 4.6 et 4.5)
         
         The health status of the male donors in the case of natural mating is equivalent to that of the female donors, or the semen used to fertilize the embryos met the requirements of the OIE code (chapter 4.6 and 4.5)
      
      
      5. 8.1.5 Les troupeaux d'origine des animaux donneurs et le lieu de collecte des embryons n'ont pas été soumis à des restrictions quarantenaires dans les 60 jours précédant la première collecte.
         
         The flock(s) of origin of the donor animals and the place of embryo collection were free from any quarantine restrictions in the 60 days preceding the first embryo collection for this consignment.
      
      
      6. 8.1.6 Le troupeau d'origine des animaux donneurs est resté indemne de toute évidence clinique de Border disease durant les 12 mois et aucun cas de tuberculose n’a été diagnostiqué sur les ovins et les caprins durant les 3 ans précédant la collecte de semence et d'embryons dans le troupeau d’origine.
         
         The flock of origin of the donor animals has remained free from any clinical signs of Border disease during the 12 months before the collection of semen and embryos and tuberculosis has not been diagnosed in sheep or goats in the flock of origin during the 3 years before the collection.
      
      
      7. 8.1.7 Les animaux donneurs ont séjourné dans le lieu de collecte d’embryons sous la supervision du vétérinaire de l’équipe de collecte depuis la date d’accouplement ou d’insémination jusqu’à la récolte complète de tous les embryons requis pour cette exportation. Au cours de cette période, les animaux donneurs ont été tenus à l’écart d’autres animaux ne présentant pas le même statut sanitaire.
         
         Donor animals have been kept in the place of embryo collection under the supervision of the embryo team veterinarian from the date of mating or insemination until the complete collection of all the embryos required for this exportation. During this period, the donor animals have been kept isolated from other animals of lesser health status.
      
      
      8. 8.1.8 Lors de chaque prélèvement sanguin pendant les 30 jours précédant la collecte ainsi que le jour de la collecte, les animaux donneurs ont été soumis à un examen clinique par le vétérinaire de l’équipe de collecte et ont été trouvés en bonne santé et sans aucun signe clinique de maladie infectieuse susceptible d’être transmise par le transfert d’embryons.
         
         On each occasion that blood samples were taken within the 30 days prior to collection and at the time of collection, the donor animals were examined by the veterinarian leading the Embryo Collection Team and found to be in good health and free of clinical evidence of any infection that could be transmitted by embryo transfer.
      
      
      9. 8.1.9 Les animaux donneurs n’ont pas été vaccinés contre aucune maladie (sauf le tétanos avec un vaccin tué si nécessaire) dans les 28 jours précédant la période de collecte pour cette exportation ni pendant la période de collecte.
         
         The donor animals were not vaccinated against any diseases (except tetanus using a killed vaccine if necessary), within 28 days prior to collection nor during the collection period for this exportation.
      
      
      10. 8.1.10 Pour les embryons ovins, les animaux donneurs étaient immédiatement avant la collecte dans un cheptel reconnu officiellement indemne de Brucella ovis par les autorités vétérinaires du pays exportateur ou dans un cheptel dans lequel B. ovis n’a pas été diagnostiqué dans les 3 années précédentes.
          
          For ovine embryos, the donor animals, immediately prior to embryo collection, were part of a flock Accredited Free from Brucella ovis or part of flock in which B. ovis had not been diagnosed during the previous 3 years.
      
      
      11. 8.1.11 Pour les embryons caprins, les animaux donneurs étaient immédiatement avant la collecte dans un cheptel reconnu officiellement indemne d’arthrite encéphalite caprine (AEC) par les autorités vétérinaires du pays exportateur, ou dans un cheptel dans lequel aucun cas d’AEC n’a été déclaré dans les 3 années précédentes.
          
          For caprine embryos, the donor animals, immediately prior to embryo collection, were part of an accredited caprine arthritis encephalitis (CAE) free herd recognised by the veterinary administration of the exporting country or part of a herd in which CAE had not been diagnosed during the previous 3 years.

      1. 8.2.1 Entre 21 jours et 60 jours après la collecte des embryons, les animaux donneurs, ont été soumis à un test de dépistage de la fièvre Q et ont obtenu un résultat négatif soit au test de fixation du complément soit au test ELISA.
         
         Between 21 and 60 days after collection of embryos, the donor animals, were tested with negative result for Q fever by either the complement fixation test (CFT) or by ELISA.

         For caprine embryos, the donor animals gave a negative result to either an approved ELISA or AGID for caprine arthritis encephalitis on two blood samples collected 30 days apart during the pre-collection and collection period.

         An official laboratory or laboratory accredited by the National Association of Testing Laboratories (NATA) has carried out all laboratory tests. Copies of the laboratory results accompany the consignment.
   
   
   3. 8.3 Exigence sur les embryons exportés / Requirements of the embryos
      
      
      1. 8.3.1 Les embryons sont récoltés, préparés, identifiés, conditionnés et conservés sous la supervision de l’Equipe Vétérinaire conformément aux dispositions du code l’OIE pour la collecte et la manipulation des embryons fécondés in vivo.
         
         The embryos have been collected, prepared, identified and stored under the supervision of the embryo collection team veterinarian in conformity with the provisions of the OIE Code regarding the collection and processing of in vivo derived embryos.
      
      
      2. 8.3.2 Ils ont été examinés au microscope (x 50) et lavés selon les recommandations de l’IETS et du code OIE afin de certifier qu’ils présentent une zone pellucide intacte et indemne de tout matériel adhérent.
         
         The embryos have been examined under a microscope (x50) and washed according to the IETS/OIE Code in order to certify the zona pellucida is intact and free of any attached material.
      
      
      3. 8.3.3 Ils n’ont pas fait l’objet de micromanipulation et ne sont pas issus de bissections, multisections ou de fécondations in vitro et ils sont tous entourés de leur propre zone pellucide.
         
         The embryos have not have been micromanipulated nor derived from bisections, multisections or in vitro fertilization and are enclosed by their own zona pellucida.
      
      
      4. 8.3.4 Ils ont été lavés 10 fois, chaque lavage ayant été réalisé avec une dilution centésimale de celle du liquide précédent et une nouvelle pipette doit être utilisée pour le transfert des embryons entre chaque lavage.
         
         The embryos have been washed 10 times, each wash being a one hundredth dilution of the preceding one and a new pipette has been used for the transfer of embryos between each wash.
      
      
      5. 8.3.5 Les milieux et les solutions utilisés pour la collecte, la congélation et la conservation des embryons doivent être stérilisés comme indiquées dans le manuel de l’IETS et manipulés de façon à rester stériles.
         
         The media and solutions used for embryo collection, freezing or storage were sterilised as stated in the IETS handbook and manipulated in such a way that they remain sterile.
      
      
      6. 8.3.6 Après la récolte, les embryons ont été placés dans des conteneurs stérilisés, neufs ou vides, remplis d’azote liquide et stockés dans un local protégé sous la supervision du vétérinaire de l’équipe. La stérilisation a été effectuée après le nettoyage à l’aide d’un désinfectant agréé conformément aux instructions du fabricant.
         
         Following collection, the embryos have been placed in new or empty disinfected containers filled with liquid nitrogen and left in a secure area under the supervision of the team veterinarian. Disinfection has been performed after cleaning using a registered disinfectant in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
      
      
      7. 8.3.7 Les embryons ont été stockés exclusivement avec de la semence ou des embryons officiellement reconnus comme répondant aux exigences requises pour l’exportation en Nouvelle-Calédonie ou étant d’un statut sanitaire équivalent ou supérieur.
         
         The embryos have been stored exclusively with semen or embryos that are suitable for export to New Caledonia or are of equivalent or higher health status.
   
   
   4. 8.4 Etat sanitaire du pays / Country of origin
      
      
      1. 8.4.1 L’Australie est indemne de : fièvre aphteuse, peste bovine, stomatite vésiculeuse, peste des petits ruminants, péripneumonie contagieuse bovine, fièvre de la vallée du Rift, clavelée et de variole caprine, maladie d’Aujeszky, rage, septicémie hémorragique, brucellose (Brucella abortus et B. melitensis), trypanosomose, encéphalopathie spongiforme bovine, pleuropneumonie contagieuse de la chèvre, adénomatose pulmonaire, maladie de Nairobi, Salmonellose à Salmonella abortus ovis, tremblante, visna-maedi, avortement enzootique des brebis (chlamydophila abortus), agalaxie contagieuse, Schmallenberg virus.
         
         Australia is free from foot and mouth disease, rinderpest, vesicular stomatitis, peste des petits ruminants, contagious bovine pleuropneumonia, Rift Valley Fever, sheep and goat pox, Aujeszky’s disease, rabies, haemorrhagic septicaemia, brucellosis (Brucella abortus, B.melitensis), trypanosomiasis,, bovine spongiform encephalopathy, contagious caprine pleuropneumonia, pulmonary adenomatosis, Nairobi sheep disease, Salmonella abortus ovis, scrapie, maedi-visna, ovine enzootic abortion (chlamydophila abortus), contagious agalactia, Schmallenberg virus.
   
   
   5. 8.5 Exigence sur la collecte et l’équipe de collecte des embryons / Requirements on the collection and the embryo collection team
      
      
      1. 8.5.1 Le vétérinaire chargé de la collecte d’embryons est agréé par le DAFF pour l’exportation et se conforme aux directives du Code de l’OIE.
         
         The embryo collection veterinarian is accredited for export by DAFF and complies with the guidelines in the current OIE Code.
      
      
      2. 8.5.2 L’équipe de collecte des embryons a été agréée et dentif par l’autorité vétérinaire et répond aux exigences requises quant à la dentifi et au fonctionnement des sites de collecte d’embryons définies dans le code de l’OIE pour la collecte et la manipulation des embryons fécondés in vivo.
         
         The embryo collection team has been approved and audited by the Veterinary Authority and meets the requirements for establishing and operating the places of embryo collection in the standards described in the current OIE Code for the collection and processing of in vivo derived embryos.

         The embryos have been collected, prepared, identified and stored in a storage facility officially approved by the Veterinary Authority for the exportation of embryos in conformity with the OIE Code and IETS procedures.
