Special conditions

There is no current veterinary legislation covering the import of fish embryonated ova. This legislation is being developed. This means there is no prohibition on import.

However, other legislation prohibits the introduction of fish species or embryonated ova to inland waters unless the species is found locally and is on the official Dutch species list (available from DAFF, Canberra).

For aquaculture purposes there is no prohibition on entry under the above legislation, but it has been advised by Dutch authorities that it would be unwise to proceed with exports unless the environmental aspects have been cleared with the Dutch authorities.
