Importing country requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.

Information about the process for importing cats to Iceland is available from the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority (MAST).

Australia is a Category 1 (approved rabies-free exporting) country.

Note: Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.

Health requirements

Iceland's health certificate for cats being imported from Category 1 countries is available from the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority (MAST).

Guidance notes for official government veterinarians endorsing certificates of health and origin for the import of a dog or a cat to Iceland are also provided by MAST.
