Importing country requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.

Note
Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.

Health requirements

Health certification

The following basic health requirements are mandatory for pets entering Egypt:

  1. The pet must be microchipped with an ISO-compliant microchip. The microchip number must be clearly stated on all documents.

  2. valid Rabies Vaccination Certificate is required. The rabies vaccine must be administered after microchipping and at least 21 days prior to travel and remain valid at the time of entry.

  3. An official Veterinary Health Certificate issued by a government-authorized veterinarian in the country of origin is required. The certificate must be issued within the valid period prior to travel.

Please ensure all documents are accurate and original to avoid any delays or issues upon arrival.

As importing country requirements may change without advice to the Department you should check the country website carefully at the time of preparation for export.

Return to Australia

If your animal is returning to Australia, you should make yourself familiar with the Department’s requirements for importing live animals into Australia. This is important as your animal may have been exposed to diseases that do not occur in Australia.

Basis for Micor entry

Based on correspondence received from the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture on 18 December 2025.
