REQUIREMENTS FOR THE IMPORTATION OF BOVINE EMBRYOS FROM AUSTRALIA TO COLOMBIA
REQUISITOS PARA IMPORTAR EMBRIONES BOVINOS DE AUSTRALIA
The shipment should be accompanied by the certificate, signed by an official veterinarian of the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS), that certify:

1. IDENTIFICACION / IDENTIFICACION:
A) Name and address of the establishment of origin of the donor cow.
B) Name and address of the Embryo Transfer Centre.
C) Date of collection of the embryos.
D) Full identification of the donor cow.

B) Nombre y dirección del centro de transferencia de embriones.
C) Fecha de la recolección de los embriones.

2. ABOUT THE COUNTRY /
DEL PAIS:
A) Australia is free of rinderpest, contagious bovine pleuropneumonia, lumpy skin disease, vesicular stomatitis and foot-and-mouth disease.
A) Australia es libre de Peste Bovina, Perineumonía Contagiosa Bovina, Exantema Nodular,
Estomatitis Vesicular y Fiebre Aftosa.
3. ABOUT THE SEMEN /
DEL SEMEN:
The semen used in the production of the embryos should be from semen collection centres that comply with the sanitary requirements for its importation into Colombia. A certificate of the semen used should accompany the corresponding shipment of embryos.
El semen utilizado en la producción de los embriones debe proceder de centros de inseminación artificial que cumplen con los requisitos sanitarios exigidos para su importación a Colombia. Un certificado sobre este aspecto debe acompañar al correspondiente embarque de los embriones.
The semen used for the artificial insemination of donor cows should have been collected and treated in accordance with the disposition in Annex 3.2.1. of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code.
El semen utilizado para la Inseminación Artificial de hembras donantes debe haber sido obtenido y tratado de conformidad con lo dispuesto en el Anexo 3.2.1. del Código Sanitario de los Animales Terrestres.
4. ABOUT THE DONOR COW /
DE LA VACA DONANTE:
A) The donor cow was born in Australia or has been in Australia for at least 6 months prior to collecting the embryos for export to Colombia.
A) La vaca donante nació en el país exportador o ha permanecido en ese país al menos durante los 6 meses previos a la recolección de los embriones para exportación a Colombia.
B) The herd of origin of the donor cow did not present notifiable diseases at least 60 days prior to and 30 days after embryo collection
B) El rebaño de procedencia de la vaca donante no ha presentado enfermedad notificables al menos los 60 días previos y los 30 días siguientes a la recolección.
C) The donor cow at the time of embryo collection was clinically examined and found free of signs of diseases not registered in the Category 1 of the IETS classification.
C) La vaca donante en el momento de la recolección es examinada clínicamente y encontrada libre de enfermedades no inscritas en la categoría 1 de la clasificación de la IETS
D) The herd of origin of the cow or donor cows is officially free of tuberculosis and brucellosis.
D) El rebaño de origen de la vaca o vacas donantes se encuentra oficialmente libre de tuberculosis y brucelosis.
5. ABOUT THE EMBRYO /
DEL EMBRIÓN:
A) After the last wash, the embryos were examined microscopically (under at least 50x magnification) to ensure that the surface of the zone pellucida are intact and free from any adherent material.
A) Luego del último lavado, los embriones fueron examinados microscópicamente (bajo un aumento de por lo menos 50X) para asegurar que la superficie y la zona pelucida se encuentran intactas y libres de cualquier material adherente.
B) The embryos were washed at least 10 times following the recommendations of the International Embryo Transfer Society (IETS) with a 100-fold dilution between each wash
B) Los embriones fueron lavados por lo menos 10 veces siguiendo las recomendaciones de la Sociedad Internacional de Transferencia de Embriones (IETS). Cada uno de los lavados se realizó con una dilución en 100 del volumen inmediatamente anterior.
C) Two of the washes should include washes with trypsin.
C) Dos de los lavados deben incluir lavados con tripsina.
D) Only the embryos of the same donor cow should be washed and treated together.
D) Solamente los embriones de la misma vaca donante pueden ser lavados y tratados junos.
E) All the materials used in the process have been previously sterilized or are disposable.
E) Todos los materiales utilizados en el proceso fueron previamente esterilizados o son desechables.
F) All the process was carried out using aseptic techniques.
F) Todo el proceso se llevó a cabo usando técnicas asépticas.
G) The embryos should not be more than 8 days old at the time of their collection.
G) Los embriones no deberán tener más de 8 días al momento de su recolección.
H) In the case of sexed embryos: the embryos were washed according to the section 5 literal a f, and examined in the total of their surface under at least 50x magnification to ensure that the surface of the zone pellucida is intact and free from any adherent material, before they are sexed or frozen.
H) En el caso de embriones sexados: los embriones fueron lavados de acuerdo con la sección 5 literales a f y examinados en el total de su superficie bajo un aumento de por lo menos 50X para asegurar que la superficie y la zona pelucida se encuentran intactas y libres de cualquier material adherente, antes de ser sexados o congelados.
I) Each batch of embryos was conditioned, frozen and put inside appropriate and sterile embryo packing system. The straws and the packing system are identified in such a way that will allow knowing the date of collection, the identification of the bull and of the female donor, and the number of veterinary registration of the collection team.
I) Cada lote de embriones esta condicionado, congelado y puesto dentro de contenedores apropiados y estériles. Las pajuelas y los contenedores están identificados de manera que permitan conocer la fecha de recolección, la identificación del toro y de las hembras donantes, además del número de aprobación veterinaria del equipo de transferencia.
J) The embryos should be transported in new containers or containers disinfected with a solution of formalin of the 10%, the containers should be sealed by the Animal Health Authority of Australia.
J) Los embriones deben ser transportados en termos nuevos o termos desinfectados con una solución de formalina del 10%, los mismos fueron precintados y sellados por la Autoridad de Sanidad Animal de Australia.
K) The embryos were frozen and stored in approved premises during a minimum period of 30 days prior to shipment.
K) Los embriones están congelados y almacenados en un lugar aprobado para este fin durante un periodo mínimo de 30 días antes del embarque.
6. ABOUT THE EMBRYO TRANSFER CENTER /
CENTRO DE TRANSFERENCIA
All the animals in the Centre were clinically free of signs of infectious contagious diseases and of lesions of the genital tract, for 60 days before and 30 days after embryo collection.
Todos los animales del Centro se encuentran clínicamente libres de enfermedades infectocontagiosas, además de lesiones del aparato genital, durante 60 días previos y 30 días siguientes a la colección de los embriones.
The Centre is officially authorised for export of cattle embryos and is accredited by the Official Veterinary Service of Australia.
El Centro esta autorizado oficialmente para la exportación de embriones bovinos y cuenta con acreditación del Servicio Veterinario Oficial de Australia.
7. ABOUT THE TEAM FOR THE COLLECTION OF EMBRYOS:
DEL EQUIPO PARA LA RECOLECCION DE EMBRIONES:
For collection, processing and storage of the embryos, the team should consist of competent technicians and should include a veterinarian accredited by the Sanitary authority of the country of origin. In addition, the team should comply with the Article 3.3.1.2 of Section 3.3.1 of the OIE Code.
Para la recolección, procesamiento y almacenamiento de los embriones, el equipo debe estar conformado por técnicos competentes y debe incluir un médico veterinario acreditado por la autoridad Sanitaria del país de origen. Además cumplen con el Artículo 3.3.1.2 del anexo 3.3.1 del Código Sanitario de la OIE.
8. OF THE LABORATORY PROCESSING THE EMBRYOS:
LABORATORIO QUE PROCESA LOS EMBRIONES
A) There is a complete separation between the clean and dirty areas of the process.
A) Hay una separación completa entre las áreas sucia y limpia del proceso.
B) During the processing and storage of the embryos for export to Colombia, there has not been processing of any other embryos from donors of lower health status than those destined for Colombia.
B) Durante el proceso y almacenamiento de los embriones para exportación a Colombia, no se ha procesado ningún otro embrión de donadoras en estado de salud inferior al estado de aquellas correspondientes a estos requisitos.
C) The collecting, processing, analysis and storage of the embryos were carried out according to recommendations of the IETS Manual.
C) La recolección, procesamiento, análisis y almacenamiento de los embriones se llevó a cabo siguiendo las normas recomendadas por la IETS.
