- Note
- Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.
- The British Virgin Islands may issue permits requiring vaccination and/or testing for Lyme disease, which is not possible for dogs in Australia. Exporters may be able to apply for a dispensation from the British Virgin islands authority (vet@gov.vg) in place of testing and/or vaccination for Lyme disease which instead requires the Australian Government to include the statement: ‘No evidence of Lyme disease (infection with Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato) has been reported in dogs and cats in Australia’.
