General Requirements

This ICR applies to seeds produced before 14 December 2019. Refer to the MICoR case Medicago sativa seed 2 for exporting seeds produced on or after 14 December 2019.

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

​It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.

​Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Explanation of endorsements

Endorsements 1926, 1927, 1930, 3468, 3469 and 3470:

The seed must be fumigated prior to export.

Treatment

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Details of treatment are to be endorsed in the treatment section of the phytosanitary certificate.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 629)
1) Consignment complies with Annex IV.A.I, point 49.1(a) of Directive 2000/29/EC. No symptoms of Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) have been observed at the place of production since the beginning of the last complete cycle of vegetation and representative sample was found free through nematological laboratory testing of Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci).
2) Consignment complies with Annex IV.A.I, point 49.2(a) of Directive 2000/29/EC. Bacterial wilt of alfalfa (Clavibacter michiganensis ssp insidiosus) has been known not to occur on the farm or in the immediate vicinity since the beginning of the past 10 years.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 630)
1) Consignment complies with Annex IV.A.I, point 49.1(a) of Directive 2000/29/EC. No symptoms of Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) have been observed at the place of production since the beginning of the last complete cycle of vegetation and representative sample was found free through nematological laboratory testing of Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci).
2) Consignment complies with Annex IV.A.I, point 49.2(b) 1) of Directive 2000/29/EC. The crop belongs to a variety recognised as being highly resistant to Bacterial wilt of alfalfa (Clavibacter michiganensis ssp insidiosus).

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 631)
1) Consignment complies with Annex IV.A.I, point 49.1(a) of Directive 2000/29/EC. No symptoms of Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) have been observed at the place of production since the beginning of the last complete cycle of vegetation and representative sample was found free through nematological laboratory testing of Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci).
2) Consignment complies with Annex IV.A.I, point 49.2(b) 2) of Directive 2000/29/EC. The crop has not yet started its fourth complete cycle of vegetation from sowing when the seed was harvested and there was not more than one preceding seed harvest from the crop.

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 1921)
1) Consignment complies with Annex V, Part A3 Point 2(b) of  Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/2072; . No symptoms of Ditylenchus dipsaci have been observed at the site of production during the previous cropping and no Ditylenchus dipsaci has been found by laboratory tests on a representative sample2) Consignment complies with Annex V, Part A3 Point 1(c) of  Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/2072; the crop belongs to a variety recognised as being highly resistant to Clavibacter michiganensis ssp. insidiosus and the content of inert matter shall not exceed 0,1 % by weight.

Option 5 (EXDOC Endorsement 1923)
1) Consignment complies with Annex IV.A.I, point 49.1(a) of Directive 2000/29/EC. No symptoms of Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) have been observed at the place of production since the beginning of the last complete cycle of vegetation and representative sample was found free through nematological laboratory testing of Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci).
2) Consignment complies with Annex IV.A.I, point 49.2(c) of Directive 2000/29/EC. No symptoms of Bacterial wilt of alfalfa (Clavibacter michiganensis ssp insidiosus) have been observed at the place of production, or any Medicago sativa crop adjacent to it, during the last complete cycle of vegetation or, where appropriate, the last two cycles of vegetation.

Option 6 (EXDOC Endorsement 1924)
