General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

​Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Explanation of the endorsements:

No evidence is required to endorse freedom from the following pests they are not known to occur in Australia:

  • Alternaria leaf blight (Alternaria triticina)
  • Bent grass nematode (Anguina agrostis)
  • Dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa)
  • Nematode (Longidorus spp)
  • Joint goatgrass (Aegilops cylindrical)

Fol​lowing pests does not require supporting evidence to be certified as it is not on the seed export pathway:

  • Arabis mosaic virus
  • Stagonospora leaf blotch (Stagonospora avenae)
  • Maize chlorotic mottle virus
  • Wheat eyespot (Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides)
  • Nematodes (Paratrichodorus Siddiq, Trichodorus spp, Pratylenchus spp)

A combination of phytosanitary sampling and inspection procedures and/or laboratory testing may be used to endorsing freedom from the following pests:

  • Red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta)
  • Darnel ryegrass (Lolium temulentum)
  • Argentine stem weevil (Listronotus bonariensis)
  • Tribulus alatus
  • Winter wild oats (Avena sterilis)
  • Johnson grass (Sorghum halepense)
  • Russian knapweed (Centaurea repens)
  • Doublegee (Emex australis)
  • Bishop's weed (Ammi majus)
  • Sandburr (Cenchrus spp.)
  • American serpentine leaf miner (Liriomyza trifolii)​
​Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
