General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Seed potatoes must be practically free of soil. The department's soil tolerance applies in this regards (Contaminants include more than 25g of soil per sample taken for 2 per cent inspections and 25g of soil in the combined samples for the inspection lot for 600 unit inspections.)

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Seed potatoes must be sourced from a nationally recognised seed potato certification scheme. Exporter to provide evidence of certification and present to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection.

​Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Treatment

Consignments are to be fumigated with an appropriate fumigant, or other effective treatments, at recommended manufacturers requirements.

1) Black wart (Synchytrium endobioticum), Colorado beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata) and Potato cyst nematode (Globodera pallida) are not known to occur in Australia,
2) The crop and production site was inspected during the past twelve months and found free from Potato cyst nematode (Globodera rostochiensis),
3) The crop was not grown in the vicinity of unhealthy potato crops, 
4) The seed potato was produced under a Seed Potato Certification scheme.
