1. General conditions for edible non-prescribed goods

1.1 Prohibited

Unless specified within the commodity list below, the Department is unaware of any specific requirement for edible non-prescribed goods that are for export to Vietnam.

1.2 Conditions

Unless specified in the specific commodity below, the Department is not aware of any certificate for the export of non-prescribed edible goods to Vietnam. Exporters are encouraged to confirm the importing conditions through their importer or, if needed, the government authority of Vietnam.

2. General conditions for inedible non-prescribed goods

2.1 Prohibited

Unless specified within the following commodity list, the Department is unaware of any specific requirement for inedible non-prescribed goods that are for export to Vietnam.

2.2 Conditions

Compliance with relevant Australian domestic requirements. The Department is unaware of any certification requirements for export to Vietnam.

Apiculture products

1. Preconditions for market access

The Department is negotiating certification requirements for honey to Vietnam.

1.1 Import permit

Exporters are encouraged to confirm the importing conditions through their importer or, if needed, the government authority of Vietnam.

1.2 Listing and audit

The Department is currently negotiating market access of Australian honey with Vietnam. The requirements for listing and audit will be updated once the negotiation is finalised.

1.3 Prohibited products

The Department is not aware of any prohibited products related to honey.

2. Documentation requirements

2.1 Government certification

Compliance with relevant Australian domestic requirements. Exports of honey to Vietnam may continue at the exporter's commercial risk using an EX188B (manual) certificate.

2.2 Supporting documents and exporter declarations

The Department is not aware of any supporting documents for sending honey to Vietnam.

3. Other requirements

The Department is not aware of any other requirements (for example, packaging, labelling) of honey.

4. Exemptions granted by importing country

The Department is not aware of any exemptions being granted by Vietnam. Exporters are encouraged to confirm if any exemptions apply by contacting their importer or, if needed, the relevant Vietnam government authority.

Functional foods, Micronutrient-fortified foods or Fortified foods

1. Preconditions for market access

1.1 Import permit

The Department is not aware of any import permit requirement for importing functional foods, micronutrient-fortified foods or fortified foods into Vietnam. Exporters are encouraged to confirm the importing conditions through their importer or, if needed, the government authority of Vietnam.

2. Documentation requirements

2.1 Government certification

A government export certificate may be required for the export of functional foods, micronutrient-fortified foods or fortified foods. Exporters are encouraged to confirm the requirements for government export certificate through their importer or, if needed, the government authority of Vietnam.

Vietnam requires a Certificate of Free Sale (CFS) which is issued by the Department or Chamber of Commerce. The required information for applying a CFS from the Department is as below:

  • Importing country official requirements.
  • Product name (as product label) and product description.
  • Manufacturing establishment name and address.
  • A manufacturer’s declaration: the product name, product description, manufacturing establishment name and address, a statement that the product(s) is freely available for sale in the Australian domestic market and eligible for export.
  • Evidence shows that the product is freely available for sale in the Australian domestic market.

The requirement is stipulated in Decree 69/2018 (Article 10) (DOC 363KB|PDF 682KB) including list of conditions.

2.2 Supporting documents and exporter declarations

The Department is not aware of any supporting documents for sending functional foods, micronutrient-fortified foods or fortified foods to Vietnam.

The Department is not aware of any other requirements (for example, packaging, labelling) of functional foods, micronutrient-fortified foods or fortified foods.

The Department is not aware of any exemptions being granted by Vietnam. Exporters are encouraged to confirm if any exemptions apply by contacting their importer or, if needed, the relevant Vietnam government authority.
