Representative samples of brood stock from the fish farm of origin must be inspected and tested during the present spawning season and similarly tested for the past 2 years at intervals of approximately 6 months and have been free on each occasion for-
.Viral haemorrhagic septicaemia (VHS or Egtved disease)
.Infectious pancreatic necrosis (IPN)
.Infectious haematopoietic necrosis (IHN)
.Epizootic haematopoietic necrosis (EHN)

No new stocks may be introduced during this period.

PORT OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 
All testing for confirmed disease free certification of the fish farm of origin must be conducted at the Australian Fish health Reference Laboratory.

Inspections and declarations of clinical freedom of the fish farm of origin must be made by Authorised Officers approved by the Papua New Guinea authorities.

All imports must be accompanied by a Statutory Declaration from the owner or his/her agent that-
a) the eggs are derived from fish that to the best of their knowledge and belief, are free of all infectious and contagious diseases;
b) the eggs have been subjected to disinfection in a solution of dilution to give a solution containing 100ppm of free iodine for a period of 10 minutes, and then rinsed thoroughly in clean, potable water.

i) viral haemorrhagic septicaemia

ii) infectious pancreatic necrosis

iii) infectious haematopietic necrosis

iv) epizootic haematopietic necrosis (iridovirus).
