Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Bangladesh import permits may be issued with varying additional declaration and treatment requirements. Exporters must refer to the import permit to verify requirements for their consignment.
Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Explanation of the endorsements
Endorsement 6159:
- Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer is sufficient to endorse freedom from Warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile) and Rusty grain beetle (Cryptolestes ferrugineus)
- Heat treatment at a minimum of 60 degrees Celsius for at least 5 minutes is considered effective against Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci), Sharp eyespot of cereals (Ceratobasidium cereale), Culm rot of cereals (Fusarium culmorum) and Foot rot of cereals (Monographella nivalis). The Exporter is to provide a manufacturer's declaration attesting to the treatment and present to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Endorsement 5875:
- Grain borer (Prostephanus truncatus) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
- Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer is sufficient to endorse freedom from Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), soil (as per normal tolerances) and Maize weevil (Sitophilus zeamais).

Endorsement 6333: - Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer is sufficient to endorse freedom from soil (as per normal tolerances).

Endorsements 5875 and 6333 (quarantine weed seeds):- The exporter must provide a laboratory analysis certificate attesting to freedom from quarantine weed seeds and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection. Endorsement 5931:

Endorsement 6203:- Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer is sufficient to endorse freedom from Granary weevil (Sitophilus granarius), Canary grass (Phalaris spp), Grain beetle (Oryzaephilus surinamensis) and Ergot (Claviceps purpurea).
- A laboratory analysis certificate endorsing freedom from Bunt of wheat (Tilletia tritici) must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
The additional declaration is only to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate where the import permit specifically states this requirement. If the import permit does not require specific additional declaration for a certain pest or disease, the phytosanitary certificate is to be issued with nil additional declaration. Exporters are to refer to the import permit to determine the appropriate additional declaration for their consignment.
Import of food products into Bangladesh requires a Radioactivity Statement (GX46B) from the competent authority of the exporting country (Article 16 of the Import Policy Order 2012-2015, Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh). When requested by the exporter, a Radiation Statement may be issued.
