General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

​Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

​Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 1134:
  • Western corn rootworm (Diabrotica virgifera virgifera) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • Visual inspection by an Authorised Officer is sufficient for endorsing freedom from Warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile).
  • A crop inspection certificate is required to endorse freedom from Witch weed (Striga spp) and Wheat streak mosaic virus.
Endorsement 3947:
  • Western corn rootworm (Diabrotica virgifera virgifera) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.

Endorsement 4966:
  • Visual inspection by an Authorised Officer is sufficient for endorsing freedom from Warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile).
  • A laboratory analysis certificate is required to endorse freedom from Witch weed (Striga spp).
Endorsement 6951:
  • Red witchweed (Striga asiatica) is recognised as not occurring in any Australian states and territories except the Mackay region of Queensland. Australian consignments of Zea mays seed can be endorsed free from Red witchweed (Striga asiatica) based on exporter's declaration confirming sourcing seeds from areas other than Mackay region of Queensland.
  • The place of production details must be entered in the "Additional product description field" section of the EXDOC Request for Permit (RFP) as: THE SEED WAS GROWN IN <PLACE OF PRODUCTION>, <STATE>. There is to be no deviation from this text format. To enable the field on the RFP the exporter must submit a request to the EXDOC Plant Program via (EXDOCPlantPrograms@agriculture.gov.au).
  • Visual inspection by an Authorised Officer is sufficient for endorsing freedom from Warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile).

3) The consignment was found to be free by official laboratory testing of Witch weed (Striga spp) and Wheat streak mosaic virus.

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 4950)
1) The consignment was inspected and found to be free of Warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile),
2) The crop was inspected during active growth and found to be free of witch weed (Striga spp).

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 4966)
1) The consignment was inspected and found to be free of Warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile),
2) The consignment was found free through laboratory testing of witch weed (Striga spp).

Option 5 (EXDOC Endorsement 6951)
1) The consignment is free of Warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile),
2) The seed in this consignment has been sourced from an area recognised by SENASA as free from Red witch weed (Striga asiatica). Australia is free of Striga asiatica except the Mackay Region, Queensland.
