Importing country requirements
It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.
Information on the requirements to import a horse into the United Arab Emirates is available on the
UAE Ministry of Climate Change & Environment’s website.

- Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit, including:
- At UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment's discretion copies of test results and proof of vaccination may be requested.
- Singapore and Hong Kong are an acceptable route.
- Importation of horses by sea is not permitted by the UAE Government from any country.
- All horses must arrive by air at one of the approved international airports – Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, unless special authority is granted elsewhere.
- Temporarily imported horses will normally only be allowed to remain in the UAE for a maximum of 30 days although this may be extended for horses competing in certain specified international competitions approved by the UAE Ministry.

Health Information
I, the undersigned, certify that the animal described above meets the following requirements:
- (a) It comes from Australia where the following diseases are compulsorily notifiable:
African horse sickness, dourine, glanders, equine encephalomyelitis (of all types including VEE), infectious anaemia, vesicular stomatitis, rabies, anthrax. - (b) It has been examined today and shows no clinical sign of disease (*).
(*) day of export or last working day prior to export in the case of registered animals - (c) It is not intended for slaughter under a national programme of infectious or contagious disease eradication.
- (d) During the last 40 days immediately preceding the exportation it has been resident on holdings under veterinary supervision in Australia.
- (e) It comes from Australia where:
- (i) Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis has not occurred during the past two years.
- (ii) Dourine has not occurred during the past six months.
- (iii) Glanders has not occurred during the past six months.
- (iv) Vesicular stomatitis has not occurred during the last six months
- (f) Australia is a country which, in accordance with OIE, is officially free from African horse sickness and the animal has not been vaccinated against African horse sickness.
- (g) It does not come from a holding which was subject to prohibition for animal health reasons nor had contact with equidae from a holding which was subject to prohibition for animal health reasons:
- i) in the case of equine encephalomyelitis, for 6 months starting from the date which other equidae suffering from the disease were slaughtered.
- ii) in the case of infectious anaemia, starting from the date which the infected animals have been slaughtered, the remaining animals have shown a negative reaction to two Coggins tests carried out three months apart.
- iii) in the case of vesicular stomatitis, during the past six months.
- iv) in the case of rabies, during one month from the last recorded case.
- v) in the case of anthrax, during the past 15 days of the last recorded case.
- vi) in the case of equine influenza, during the past 3 months of the last reported case.
OR
if all the animals of species susceptible to the disease located on the holding have been slaughtered and the premises disinfected, the period of prohibition shall be 30 days, beginning on the day on which the animals were destroyed and the premises disinfected, except in the case of anthrax, where the period of prohibition is 15 days.
- (h) To the best of my knowledge, it has not been in contact with equidae suffering from an infectious or contagious disease in the 15 days prior to this declaration.
- (i) It was subjected to the Coggins test for equine infectious anaemia (EVA) carried out with negative results on a sample of blood taken within 30 days of export on ............................ (dd/mm/yyyy)
- (j) It was not vaccinated against Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis during the last 6 months.
- (k) During the 90 days immediately prior to export, but not within 14 days of export, the horse was administered:
EITHER
a certified primary course of approved vaccinations against equine influenza comprising of at least 2 doses given in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendation
OR
a certified booster vaccination against equine influenza within 12 months of a certified primary course, or within 12 months of a certified booster vaccination where it, and any other previous booster vaccinations, have been administered at least annually, within a regular 12 month period, since the primary course.

NB: Where a booster only is entered, certified proof of previous vaccinations must travel with the horse.
- (l) During the past 60 days the equidae have not been resident on holdings on which cases of Hendra disease have been confirmed by the competent authorities. The equidae have not been in direct contact with equidae which have been resident on infected holdings during the last 60 days.

I have a written declaration signed by the owner or the representative stating that:
The animal will be sent directly from the premises of dispatch to the premises of destination without coming into contact with other equine animals not accompanied by such a certificate, in a vehicle cleansed and disinfected in advance, with a disinfectant officially recognized in Australia.
The conditions of point III(d) are fulfilled.

Return to Australia
If your animal is returning to Australia, you should make yourself familiar with Australia's requirements for
importing live animals into Australia. This is important as your animal may have been exposed to diseases that do not occur in Australia.
