Note
Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.

Health requirements

Health certification

There is an import health standard (IHS) and a guidance document for importing sheep semen and embryos.

Note
As importing country requirements may change without advice to the Department you should check the import permit and/or the country website carefully at the time of preparation for export.

Other requirements

Embryo transfer veterinarian declaration

In addition to the health certificate, a declaration from the Embryo Team Veterinarian is required for assessment of this export.

This template (DOCX 50 KB | PDF 220 KB) provides the format for the Embryo transfer veterinarian declaration (EVTD) for the export of sheep and goat embryos to New Zealand.
