Importing country requirements
It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.
The European Union (EU) has not yet implemented harmonised requirements for the non-commercial movement of pet animals other than dogs, cats and ferrets. Information about the process required to import rabbits into the Republic of Ireland from Australia can be found at
European Union – Rabbits pet.
Contact the
Department of Agriculture in the Republic of Ireland for additional requirements that may apply.
- Note
- Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.
Health requirements
As required by the importing country.
