Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.
Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.
Cannabis and hemp seeds must be non-genetically modified organisms.
The exporters must meet Australian requirements for the export of Cannabis sativa seed by being issued an export licence and permit by the Narcotics Control Section (ncs@health.gov.au). These documents must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Endorsement 7322:
- A laboratory analysis certificate is required to endorse freedom from leaf and stem rot of hemp (Pseudomonas syringae pv. cannabina), hemp leaf spot (Xanthomonas campestris pv. cannabis), Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci), Arabis mosaic virus, Alfalfa mosaic virus, Branched broomrape (Orobanche ramosa), Dodder (Cuscuta spp) and Witch weed (Striga spp).
