General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material, including animal material.

Copy of the Import permit must be presented to the Department of Agriculture Authorised Officer at the time of making the appointment

Treatment

Consignments are to be fumigated with:

  • Methyl bromide at 48 grm/m3 for 2.5 hours at 21 degrees celsius;

OR

  • Phosphine at 5 grm/m3 for seven days at a temperature above 25 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • Phosphine at 5 grm/m3 for ten days at a temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius;

AND

  • Dusted to excess with an approved fungicide and/or insecticide at recommended manufacturers requirements.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
