General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Plants must be bare rooted.

Each type of plant in the consignment must be clearly identified with its the scientific name (genus and species).​

Explanation of the endorsements


Endorsement 1467 or 1534:

Exporters have the choice of certifying to the media requirements.
​Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
All plants in the consignment are to be officially inspected and to be found free of any visually detectable regulated pests.

If visually detectable pests are found which are not listed in the Biosecurity New Zealand import health standard, the pests regulatory status must be established prior to certification.

Treatment

​All plants must be treated for insects and mites as Section 2.2.1.6 (b) of the Ministry of Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock (published on the MPI web site).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

If any required treatment is not completed within the prescribed period prior to export, these measures must be completed in New Zealand where such services are available, and by prior arrangement with MPI.

Additional Declaration/Endorsements

​Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 1467)
1) The plants have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.​​
2) The plants have been dipped in propiconazole at the rate of 5g a.i. per 10 litres of water.
3) The plants were raised from seed/cuttings in soil-less rooting media in containers maintained out of contact with the soil.
4) The plants have been sourced from a state/province free from Ceratocystis fimbriata sensu lato complex (strains not in New Zealand) or from a Pest Free Place of Production free from Ceratocystis fimbriata sensu lato complex (strains not in New Zealand).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 1534)
1) The plants have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.​​​
2) The plants have been dipped in propiconazole at the rate of 5g a.i. per 10 litres of water.
3) The roots of the plants have been dipped in Fenamiphos at 1.6g a.i. per litre of water for 30 minutes.
4) The plants have been sourced from a state/province free from Ceratocystis fimbriata sensu lato complex (strains not in New Zealand) or from a Pest Free Place of Production free from Ceratocystis fimbriata sensu lato complex (strains not in New Zealand).
