Importing country requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.

Contact the Department of Animal Production and Health (DAPH) for information about the process required to import animals into the Sri Lanka from Australia.

Email
dirh@daph.gov.lk

Refer to this and the Department’s websites for current information about exporting animals (including any suspensions).

Note
Where an importing country issues an import permit, the exporter must ensure the animal meets any requirements in the permit.
The Sri Lankan authorities require exporting establishments to be registered with them. This involves completing a questionnaire obtained from DAPH. Importers also must obtain prior approval from the Director General of DAPH. The Department is not involved in this registration/ approval process, however more information can be found on the DAPH website or by contacting DAPH.
