Importing country requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the animal meets the importing country requirements.

Import permission is required.

Health requirements

There are no agreed conditions or health certificate for this commodity. The following information is intended as a guide only.

As importing country requirements may change without advice to the Department you should check the import permit and/or the country website carefully at the time of preparation for export.

Certifying officers must review the import permit(s) and conditions provided by the exporter and ensure that the issued document(s) are consistent with the permit(s).

Health certificate

I, Dr ………………………………, a duly authorised government veterinary officer, hereby certify that:

  1. The Australian State or Territory from which the day-old chickens or hatching eggs originate is free from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).

    The Department issues certification based on documentation from the State or Territory veterinary authority identifying that the state or territory is free from HPAI.

  2. There has been no evidence of Salmonella pullorum, Salmonella gallinarum Salmonella enteritidis Salmonella typhimurium, avian encephalomyelitis, avian leucosis, Marek’s disease, adenovirus, avian influenza or egg drop syndrome in the donor flock/s or in the hatchery for the 6 months prior to export.

    The Department issues certification based on documentation from the State or Territory veterinar​y authority of no evidence of the relevant notifiable diseases in the donor flock/s and in the hatchery for 6 months prior to export.

    The Department issues certification based on documentation from the operator of the donor flock/s establishment and the hatchery of no evidence of the relevant non-notifiable diseases occurring in the donor flock/s and in the hatchery for 6 months prior to export.

  3. The vaccination schedule of the donor flock/s is attached.

    The Department issues certification based on the exporter providing a copy of the vaccination program of the donor flocks.

  4. The day-old chickens have been vaccinated with the Rispens strain of Marek’s disease vaccine. (delete if hatching eggs are to be exported)

    The Department issues certification based on a declaration from the person who administered the vaccine that the day-old chickens have been vaccinated with the Rispens strain of Marek’s disease.

  5. The day-old chickens or hatching eggs were packed in new packaging for export and have had no contact with any eggs, poultry or other birds of differing health status.

    The Department issues certification based on an exporter declaration that the day-old chickens or hatching eggs were packed in new packaging for export and have had no contact with any eggs, poultry or other birds of differing health status.

  6. The day-old chickens to be exported to Nepal have been inspected and are free of evidence of disease. (delete if hatching eggs are to be exported)

    The Department issues certification based on a declaration from a registered veterinarian that inspected the day old chicks.​
