General Requirements

​​This case is applicable to blended stockfeed containing one or more of the following species of whole or processed grain/seed. These import conditions do not apply to any stockfeed of a single ingredient or pelleted stockfeed:
  • Arachis spp
  • Avena spp
  • Helianthus spp
  • Medicago sativa
  • Sorghum spp
  • Zea spp

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Packages must be free of litter, soil, leaves, compost or any other prohibited organic material.

Explanation of the endorsements

Exporters are to refer to the import permit to determine the appropriate additional declaration for their consignment.


Endorsement 656:

  • Greater grain borer (Prostephanus truncatus) and Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) are not known to occur in Australia. Freedom from these pests may be endorsed without any supporting evidence.
Endorsement 5175:
  • Greater grain borer (Prostephanus truncatus), Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium), Maize downy mildew (Peronosclerospora maydis), Sorghum downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sorghi), Downy mildew of sunflower (Plasmopara halstedii), Stewart's diseases (Erwinia stewartii and Pantoea stewartii), Sugarcane downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sacchari) and Philippine downy mildew (Peronosclerospora philippinensis) are not known to occur in Australia. Freedom from these pests may be endorsed without any supporting evidence.
  • The maize (Zea spp) ingredient in the product must be devitalised by heat treatment against Corn smut (Ustilago maydis) and Head smut of corn (Sphacelotheca reiliana). Refer to the import permit and the treatment section below for details of treatment requirements.

Treatment

​Consignments must be treated as required by the import permit. Refer to the import permit for details of treatment requirements applicable to your consignment.

Import permits issued by SIVAP may require the following treatment for each ingredient:

  • Peanut (Arachis spp) - Devitalisation by crushing, heat treatment at 85 degrees Celsius for 15 hours, autoclave at 100 Kpa at 118 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes or Gamma irradiation at 25 kGy
  • Oat (Avena spp) - no treatment required
  • Sunflower (Helianthus spp) - Devitalisation by crushing, extrusion at 85 to 95 degrees Celsius for at least 1 minute, heat treatment at 85 degrees Celsius for 15 continuous hours, autoclave at 100kPa at 118 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes or Gamma irradiation at 25 kGy
  • Lucerne (Medicago sativa) - no treatment required
  • Sorghum (Sorghum spp) - no treatment required
  • Maize (Zea spp) - Devitalisation by heat treatment at 130 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes or 85 degrees Celsius for 15 hours, micronisation, fluffing, milling, crushing or extrusion if not sourced from an area free of Corn smut (Ustilago maydis) and Head smut of corn (Sphacelotheca reiliana).
Note: If required by the import permit, heat sterilising treatment must be applied to stockfeed containing chaff/straw. 

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
