General Requirements

​Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Fruit must be free from live fruit flies, scale, mealy bugs and mites.

Packages must be free from litter, soil, leaves, compost or any other prohibited organic material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

​Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsements 2664 and 1416:

Do not apply to lettuce which is washed, trimmed and ready to use (loose lettuce leaves). Phytosanitary certificate is to be issued with No Additional Declaration.

Treatment

Methyl bromide fumigation treatment (performed in Australia prior to export)
The applicable rates are:


  • 32 grm/m3 at 22-27 degrees Celsius for 2 hours;

OR

  • 40 grm/m3 at 16-21 degrees Celsius for 2 hours;

OR

  • 48 grm/m3 at 11-15 degrees Celsius for 2 hours.


The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Additional Declaration/Endorsements

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 2664)
1) Lettuce in the consignment was grown and packed within an area which is known to be free of Lettuce aphid (Nasonovia ribisnigri).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 1416)
1) Fumigated with methyl bromide.
