- Consignments are to be fumigated with methyl bromide at 48 grm/m3 at 21 degrees Celsius for 24 hours or equivalent;
OR
- Fumigated with sulphuryl fluoride at 64 grm/m3 at 16 degrees Celsius for 24 hours or equivalent;
OR
- Kiln dried at recommended manufacturers requirements;
OR
- Heating treatment at a core temperature of 56 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes;
OR
Preservative timber treatment to full sapwood penetration using a vacuum impregnation process with one of the following preservatives at recommended manufacturers’ requirements:
- Chromated copper arsenate (CCA);
- Chromated copper boron (CCB);
- Copper azole;
- Copper boron;
- Copper dideclyldimethyl ammonium chloride (DDAC);
- Permethrin and azole.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Fumigation of logs in bulk vessel holds
Note: Fumigators may use the Minor Use Permit for methyl bromide obtained by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to meet the importing countries phytosanitary import requirements.
- Fumigation must be done at the methyl bromide schedule listed above.
- Prior to commencement of fumigation, an in-hold fumigation plan must be approved by the Grain and Seed Exports Program. The fumigator/exporter is to provide the Grain and Seed Export Program (Grain.Export@agriculture.gov.au) with:
- Vessel name and IMO, as well as the hold number(s) being used to fumigate logs
- A draft certificate containing the dosage, temperature and duration in accordance with treatment requirements in Micor/import permit, as well as the vessel name, RFP(s), holds loaded, commodity and its quantity, and signature by a registered fumigator with their contact details.
- Method of clearing the fumigant from the hold and providing gas-free certification
- Method of sealing holds during fumigation
- The re-circulation method and locations of delivery and monitoring lines
- A reinspection of the logs after fumigation must be done as per the instructional material requirements.
