General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

​​Explanation of fruit fly pest free areas (PFAs)​

The following areas are recognised as pest free areas for Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) and Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata):

  •              Tasmania
AND
Exporters sourcing fruit from the Riverland must present a State government certificate at the time of inspection which states all fruit was sourced from properties outside the suspension areas.​


​Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Treatment

For fruit from outside fruit fly pest free areas, or outbreak zones, a mandatory treatment (Methyl bromide fumigation or cold treatment) for Queensland fruit fly is required.

Details of treatment (excluding in-transit cold treatment) to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

Methyl bromide fumigation

  • Methyl bromide fumigation at 32 grm/m3 for 2 hours at 21 degrees Celsius or above at NAP or equivalent thereof;

OR

  • Methyl bromide fumigation at 32 grm/m3 for 3.5 hours at 15 degrees Celsius or above at NAP or equivalent thereof.

Cold treatment

The following schedules must be applied for onshore and in-transit cold treatment:

  • 0 degrees Celsius or below for 13 days or more;

OR

  • 0.55 degrees Celsius or below for 14 days or more;

OR

  • 1.1 degrees Celsius or below for 18 days or more.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 3310)
1) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni), Aucuba scale (Aspidiotus nerii), Berry speckle (Guignardia vaccinii) and Bacterial leaf blight (Pseudomonas viridiflava)
2) The consignment was produced in Riverland area in the state of South Australia which is a pest free area for Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) in Australia.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 3311)
1) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni), Aucuba scale (Aspidiotus nerii), Berry speckle (Guignardia vaccinii) and Bacterial leaf blight (Pseudomonas viridiflava)
2) The consignment was produced in the state of Tasmania which is a pest free area for Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) in Australia.

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 3312)
1) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni), Aucuba scale (Aspidiotus nerii), Berry speckle (Guignardia vaccinii) and Bacterial leaf blight (Pseudomonas viridiflava)
2) The fruit has been fumigated prior to export.

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 3313)
1) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni), Aucuba scale (Aspidiotus nerii), Berry speckle (Guignardia vaccinii) and Bacterial leaf blight (Pseudomonas viridiflava)
2) The fruit has undergone preshipment cold disinfestation for Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni).

Option 5 (EXDOC Endorsement 3314)
1) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni), Aucuba scale (Aspidiotus nerii), Berry speckle (Guignardia vaccinii) and Bacterial leaf blight (Pseudomonas viridiflava)
2) The fruit will be subjected to in-transit cold disinfestation.
