General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Explanation of endorsement 5590:

  • Visual inspection by an Authorised Officer is sufficient for endorsing freedom from all quarantine pests which may be on the Medicago sativa seed pathway.
  • Note that Medicago sativa seeds for sowing to Ethiopia will require freedom from Arabis mosaic virus endorsed via laboratory analysis. This is not required for Medicago sativa seeds for research (this Micor case).
