General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Any consignments with an ISTA analysis certificate which states a presence of soil greater than 0.1% of the sample (weight by weight) are required to be retested in Chile for soil. If testing in Chile confirms that soil presence is greater than 0.1% of the sample weight, the consignment will be rejected. Additionally, if soil is found during on-arrival inspection in Chile, the consignment will be rejected. It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure the soil content of a consignment meets Chile's requirements.

Explanation of the endorsements:

Endorsement 2022:
  • A crop inspection certificate is required to endorse freedom from Bacterial wilt (Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens) and Bacterial blight of pea (Pseudomonas syringae pv. pisi).

Treatment

Consignment to be fumigated with:

Methyl bromide:

  • 24 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 10-19 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • 16 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 20 degrees Celsius or more

Phosphine:

  • 2.5 grm/m3 for 7 days at 12-15 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • 2.5 grm/m3 for 6 days at 16-20 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • 2.5 grm/m3 for 5 days at 21-25 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • 2.5 grm/m3 for 4 days at 26 degrees Celsius or greater

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
