Treatment is not required for animal feed in new and sealed bags.
Treatment is required for consignments exported as loose bulk product (not bagged).
Consignment must be fumigated with:
- Methyl bromide at 48 grm/m3 for 24 hours at a temperature above 21 degree Celsius;
OR
- Phosphine at 2 grm/m3 for 120 hours at a temperature above 21 degree Celsius;
OR
If stated on the import permit, an equivalent fumigant at recommended manufacturers' requirements (registered label rates).
Fumigation must be undertaken within 21 days of export.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the department at time of authorisation.

The treatment certificate issued by the licensed fumigator must accompany the phytosanitary certificate.
