General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Each package must be labeled with scientific name of the plants and the country of origin.
 
​It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.

Treatment

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

​Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

Plants are to be treated with:​

  • Fumigation using Methyl bromide at 32 grm/m3 for 2 hours at 10 degrees Celsius or above.

OR

  • Sprayed with 0.2 % Malathion and 0.4 % Tetramethylthiuram Disulfide (TMTD) or any suitable insecticide or fungicide

OR

  • any other equivalent treatment at approved label rates.

For plants with growing media, the soil-less organic media should be treated before export with: 

  • Fumigation using Phosphine gas at 2 grm/m3 for 72 hours at 15 degrees Celsius or above;

OR

  • Methyl bromide at 32 grm/m3 for 4 hours at 10 degrees Celsius or above;

OR

  • any other equivalent treatment at approved label rates.

Any wood packing material used must be treated with:

  • Fumigation using Methyl bromide at 48grm/m3 for 24 hours at 10 degrees Celsius or above;

OR

  • Heat treatment at 56°C for a mi nimum duration of 30 continuous minutes;

OR

  • Other approved treatment in accordance with ISPM No.15 may be acceptable.
