General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Import permit number must be printed on the phytosanitary certificate.

All wood packing material must be either fumigated with:

  • methyl bromide at 48g/m3 for 24 hrs at 21° C

OR

  • heat treated at 56 ° C for 30 minutes and stamped as per ISPM 15 requirements.

Treatment

Consignments do not require treatment prior to export if there is no reference to treatment on the Import Permit.

The phytosanitary certificate will be issued with no treatment endorsed.

If a treatemnt is listed on the import permit the consignment must be treated prior to export as per the treatment schedule listed on the import permit.

Consignments are to be fumigated with:
 
  • Methyl bromide at 21 degrees Celsius or above, at 32 g/m3 for 2 hours.
OR
  • Vapour heat treatment (VHT) at 46 degrees celcius (inner pulp temperature) for 20 minutes

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
