General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Exporters to ensure that consignments are free of viable seeds.

​It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.

The ICRs are applicable to:
  • Paddy husk – Oryza sativa
  • Lucerne Hay/Chaff – Medicago sativa
  • Wheaten hay/straw/chaff – Triticum spp
  • Timothy Hay - Phleum pratense
  • Corn silage – Zea mays
  • Soyabean Hay or Silage– Glycine max

Treatment

Consignments are to be fumigated with:
  • Methyl bromide at 32 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 21 degrees Celsius;
OR
  • Phosphine at 2 grm/m3 for 96 hours at or above 21 degrees Celsius.
  • The Exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Fumigation treatment certificate issued by a licensed fumigator must be accompanied with the consignment (when specified on the import permit).

Note:
  • Fumigation must be undertaken no more that 21 days before export.
