General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Bangladesh import permits may be issued with varying additional declaration and treatment requirements. Exporters must refer to the import permit to verify requirements for their consignment.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 5931:
  • Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer is sufficient to endorse freedom from soil (as per normal tolerances).
The additional declaration is only to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate where the import permit specifically states this requirement. If the import permit does not require a specific additional declaration, the phytosanitary certificate is to be issued with nil additional declaration. Exporters are to refer to the import permit to determine the appropriate additional declaration for their consignment.

Import of food products into Bangladesh requires a Radioactivity Statement (GX46B) from the competent authority of the exporting country (Article 16 of the Import Policy Order 2012-2015, Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh). When requested by the exporter, a Radiation Statement may be issued.

Treatment

If required by the import permit, consignments are to be fumigated with an appropriate fumigant at recommended manufacturers requirements.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

Fumigation details are only to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate when stated on the import permit.

Additional Declaration/Endorsements

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 5931)
1) The consignment is free from soil.
