General Requirements

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

​Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

The place of production details must be entered in the "Additional product description field" section of the EXDOC Request for Permit (RFP) as: THE SEED WAS GROWN IN <PLACE OF PRODUCTION>, <STATE>. The statement "OFFICIAL LABORATORY ANALYSIS NUMBER (NUMBER) / DATE (DATE)" must also be entered in the "Additional product description field" section of the EXDOC Request for Permit (RFP). There is to be no deviation from this text format. To enable the field on the RFP the exporter must submit a request to the EXDOC Plant program via (EXDOCPlantPrograms@agriculture.gov.au).

Explanation of the endorsements:
  • Red witchweed (Striga asiatica) is recognised as not occurring in any Australian states and territories except the Mackay Region of Queensland. Consignments of seed of Australian origin can be endorsed free from Striga asiatica without any evidence presented except for seed sourced from the Mackay Region. Seed sourced from the Mackay Region cannot be exported to Argentina.
